Welcome to CannabiCare, your Medical Cannabis connection! Medical Marijuana (Cannabis) was first legalized for medical use in Pennsylvania in April 2016, under The Pennsylvania Marijuana Act. At CannabiCare, we provide local board-certified physicians that are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to certify eligible patients for medical cannabis use in PA.

We have recognized that a growing number of patients in the Erie area are suffering from serious medical conditions that are not alleviated properly by conventional medical treatments. In order to be eligible for Medical Cannabis use in PA, individuals must be residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and be certified as having one of 17 Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act
designated “serious health conditions”.

Under Act 16 of 2016 (the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act or the Act), the term “medical marijuana” refers to marijuana obtained for a certified medical use by a Pennsylvania resident with a serious medical condition and is limited by statute in Pennsylvania to the following forms:

  • Pill.
  • Oil.
  • Topical forms, including gel, creams, or ointments.
  • A form medically appropriate for administration by vaporization or nebulization, excluding dry leaf or plant form.
  • Tincture.
  • Liquid.

Studies have shown that medical marijuana can assist patients suffering from certain serious medical conditions by alleviating pain and improving their quality of life. What is a “serious medical condition” under the Act? The Act defines a “serious medical conditions. See all qualifying conditions listed.

The initial certification visit at CannabiCare is $200. Additional follow up visits are $100 each and are necessary to monitor your response to treatment.

Unfortunately, insurance does not cover certification or medical cannabis fills at dispensaries.

Visit www.pa.gov and click on Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program:

  1. First, visit the Patients and Caregivers Registry and create a patient profile in the Department of Health’s patient and caregiver registry.
  2. Next, obtain a physician’s certification that you suffer from one of the 17 serious medical conditions (see below).
  3. Then, return to the Patient and Caregivers Registry and pay for a medical marijuana ID card.
  4. Obtain medical marijuana from an approved dispensary in Pennsylvania.
